Al-Araji: End of coalition mission does not mean end of partnership but its shift to security and intelligence cooperation

Qasim al-Araji, the special security adviser to the Prime Minister, confirmed today, Wednesday, that the end of the US-led international coalition's mission against ISIS in Iraq does not mean the end of the partnership with it but rather its transformation into bilateral security and intelligence cooperation.
Al-Araji wrote on the platform X: "Today we reach an important station by ending the mission of the international coalition and the presence of its forces, and moving to bilateral relations with its countries, in a way that consolidates sovereignty and serves the national interests and aspirations of the Iraqi people."
He added: "Victory over ISIS has been achieved through the sacrifices of Iraqis and the valor of our armed forces in its various branches and formations, and with support from the international coalition and brotherly and friendly countries, a role we appreciate and value."
Al-Araji went on to say: "The end of the coalition's mission does not mean the end of the partnership, but rather the move to more firmly rooted bilateral relations, with continued security and intelligence cooperation and the exchange of information and expertise and capacity-building, on the basis of mutual respect and shared interests, in a way that enhances security and stability and supports our people's aspirations toward sustainable peace, development, and prosperity."
