Erbil–Al‑Ettifaq match in Erbil postponed after instructions from Saudi consulate
The Saudi consulate informed authorities in Erbil that the Erbil–Al‑Ettifaq match scheduled for Wednesday could not be held, leading to the postponement and cancellation of the Al‑Ettifaq delegation's bookings.

The Erbil Club vs Saudi club Al‑Ettifaq match that had been scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, at Franso Hariri Stadium in Erbil as part of the Gulf Clubs Championship was officially postponed following developments related to the security situation in the region.
Erbil Club president Sven Saeed said the Saudi consulate informed the relevant authorities in Erbil that the match could not be held at the scheduled time, and that a new date for the fixture will be announced later.
Al‑Ettifaq's delegation of 85 people had been expected to arrive less than an hour before kick‑off, but their bookings were canceled after the decision over a possible postponement.
Al‑Ettifaq had submitted an official request to postpone the match due to concerns related to the security situation in the region and a decision to close airports, the club said.
Erbil Club's management initially rejected the postponement request, asserting that the situation in the city was stable, before the matter was referred to the Gulf Football Federation to decide whether the match should go ahead or be postponed.
The match had been scheduled to kick off at 5:30 p.m. Baghdad time at Franso Hariri Stadium as part of the Gulf clubs competition.
