Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein: We'll propose new plan on weapons control

Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said on Friday that the government will present a new plan regarding weapons control, and indicated that Iraq will begin a new phase once the withdrawal of coalition forces is complete.

Hussein said in a press statement, followed by the Iraqi Al-Wasat newspaper, that "Iraq will begin a new phase once the withdrawal of coalition forces is complete," pointing out that "the issue of handing over weapons is an internal Iraqi matter and we will present a new plan regarding this file."

He added that "negotiations over the handing over of weapons are ongoing," noting that "the Iraqi economy is the primary victim of Iran's ongoing war."

He added that "Iraq will discuss with the United States the issue of sanctions related to providing services to Iran's aviation," noting "that the Iranian side has been informed about the flight ban."
