Germany recorded their first win under new coach Jürgen Klopp, defeating Serbia 2-0 at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Thursday, in the third round of the top-tier group stage of the Nations League.

The home side started with an attacking onslaught, threatening Serbia's goal with numerous attempts, and Nick Woltemade missed a close header.

In the 39th minute, Germany finally found the net through Bayern Munich's Tom Bischof, following up a rebound off the post.

The Machines continued their pressure in the second half, which produced the insurance goal via Florian Wirtz, a Liverpool forward, who brilliantly controlled the ball before slotting it into the net in the 61st minute.

German dominance continued after the second goal, with the visitors unable to pose any notable threat to Bayern Munich goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, and the match ended in a 2-0 win for coach Jürgen Klopp's men.

With this win, Germany regained some balance after a 1-1 away draw with the Netherlands, then a surprising 1-0 defeat to visiting Greece in the first two rounds of the Nations League.

The Machines' points rose to 4, in third place in the group, behind second-placed Netherlands with 5 points, and Greece leading with 7 points, while Serbia bottomed the standings with no points.

The Dutch came from behind in another match played on Thursday in Greece, salvaging a 2-2 draw after trailing by two goals.
