Gold falls as dollar and US bond yields rise

Gold prices fell on Tuesday as the dollar rose and US Treasury yields climbed, while reduced expectations of a US interest-rate cut limited the precious metal's losses.

Spot gold fell 0.3% to $4128.69 an ounce, while US gold futures were steady at $4156.

Yields on 10- and 30-year US Treasuries hit their highest levels in 24 years, increasing pressure on gold, which does not yield a return.

Kyle Roda, a financial markets analyst at Capital.com, said fundamentals still support gold over the long term, noting that geopolitical risks in the Middle East could be the next catalyst for prices.

In other precious metals, silver fell 0.6% to $60.67 an ounce, platinum dropped 0.7% to $1710.08, while palladium slipped 0.2% to $1170.15.
