Protesters close Green Zone entrance near Hanging Bridge, demand inclusion of degree-holders' rights in 2027 budget
Holders of higher degrees and top graduates demonstrated in Baghdad and closed the Green Zone entrance near the Hanging Bridge, demanding a clear clause in the 2027 budget to secure their rights and allocate job grades and funds for appointments.
Today, Tuesday, demonstrations were launched in the capital Baghdad organized by holders of higher degrees and first-ranked graduates, and participants closed the Green Zone entrance on the side of the Hanging Bridge amid security measures at the site.
A source said the protesters' demands focused on the need to include a clear and specific clause in the 2027 budget concerning holders of higher degrees and first-ranked graduates, ensuring the consolidation of their rights within financial allocations and job grades, and enabling the concerned authorities to proceed with appointment procedures in accordance with the adopted legal and administrative frameworks.
Protesters demanded serious steps to address the appointment process for holders of higher degrees and first-ranked graduates that ensure the inclusion of all entitled individuals with no exclusions, along with the allocation of job grades and the funds necessary to implement entitlements within the upcoming budget.
