Ilam customs records rise in trucks crossing via Mehran after restrictions at neighboring crossings
Ilam Customs announced on Sunday an increase in the number of trucks passing through the Mehran crossing (Zurbatiyah in Iraq) following restrictions on transit at other border crossings, with capacities mobilized to speed up clearance.

The Customs Administration of Ilam province in western Iran said on Sunday it recorded an increase in truck movements through the Mehran border crossing (Zurbatiyah in Iraq), attributing the rise to restrictions on transit at neighboring border crossings, according to media reports.
Sohrab Kamari, Director General of Customs in Ilam, said these restrictions pushed part of the commercial transport fleet to rely on the Mehran crossing, which contributed to the increase in the number of trucks passing through the crossing.
Kamari added that customs has mobilized its capacities to speed up customs procedures and improve the efficiency of export operations, noting that coordination among agencies operating at the crossing has helped accelerate the clearance of goods and enabled export-loaded trucks to continue on to Iraq without delay.
The customs official affirmed that facilitating commercial procedures is a priority given the link between export growth and the province’s economic development, indicating that efforts continue to ensure the smooth flow of transit and to boost commercial activity through the crossing.
