The Meteorological Forecasting Authority predicted cloudy conditions across wide parts of Iraq on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, with a chance of light, scattered showers in the central and northern regions, while the south tends to be clearer with some clouds and temperatures generally expected to rise.

In the capital Baghdad, the high reaches about 39°C, with lows around 24 to 25°C, with cloudy weather and a limited chance of light showers in scattered parts of the central country.

Readings from international weather services place Baghdad’s high in a close range of about 38 to 40°C, which aligns with the Meteorological Forecasting Authority’s bulletin for today.

In northern cities, the bulletin expected highs in Erbil of about 33–34°C, in Mosul about 31–33°C, and in Sulaymaniyah about 30–32°C, with nights relatively cooler near 18 to 20°C in Erbil. Cloud cover continues with the possibility of light, scattered showers in northern areas where clouds thicken.

In the south, the weather tends to be fair with some clouds, with highs reaching about 40–41°C in Basra and about 41–42°C in Nasiriyah, while southern nights remain warmer compared to the north.

Today’s forecasts did not include any warnings of dust waves or strong winds across the country.

It is advised to carry a light umbrella in central and northern areas if scattered showers appear, and to be mindful of rising daytime temperatures in central and southern areas—avoid heat stress at midday and drink sufficient water while moving and working outdoors.
