Najaf updates data on 4,880 establishments to assess industrial activity

The Najaf Governorate Directorate of Statistics has completed updating data for 4,880 small, medium and large establishments, in a move aimed at providing an updated picture of the province's industrial activity and determining whether the establishments are operating or inactive.

Director of the directorate, Hussam al-Din Ahmad, said the number of industrial establishments classified as small reached 2,923, and that the census of these establishments took 60 days and covered all districts and subdistricts of the governorate in accordance with the Statistical Authority's instructions.

Ahmad explained that blacksmithing topped the list in terms of the number of small industrial establishments, while bakeries and ovens led industrial activities across the governorate, whereas boat manufacturing recorded only a single establishment, making it the least numerous.

He pointed out that the list of activities included among the small industrial establishments comprised blacksmithing, bakeries and ovens, detergent manufacturing, animal feed plants, foam cutting, oxygen production, block production, heaters, carpentry, manufacturing gas stoves, and boat building, alongside other industrial activities.

The director clarified that the aim of updating the data is to identify establishments that are continuing to operate and those that are inactive, and to monitor whether the number of establishments has increased or declined, in order to provide up-to-date information on the state of industrial activity in the governorate.
