A security source said the Integrity Commission detained Deputy Minister of Industry and Minerals Nasser Kadhim Jabr caught in the act of taking a bribe in Muthanna, part of a broader anti-corruption arrest campaign launched by Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi.

A security source said on Tuesday that Deputy Minister of Industry and Minerals Nasser Kadhim Jabr was arrested while caught in the act of receiving a bribe.
The source said the arrest was carried out by a force from the Integrity Commission inside Muthanna province.
The step comes within the context of a wide-ranging anti-corruption campaign underway in the country, launched by Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi, and carried out in operations bearing the names "Fajr al-Ahad" ("Sunday Dawn") and "Sulat al-Fajr" ("Dawn Onslaught"); the first operation began at dawn on Sunday, 28 June 2026.
Previous operations included the issuance of arrest, summons and investigation warrants that targeted dozens of prominent officials and politicians, among them members of parliament, former and current officials, and businessmen, on charges related to squandering public funds and illicit gain.
