The First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday adopted three resolutions submitted by Pakistan concerning disarmament, arms limitation and measures to build confidence at both regional and international levels.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in a statement that one of the resolutions was devoted to confidence-building measures in regional and subregional contexts, and it was adopted without a vote.
The ministry added that another resolution focusing on the reduction of conventional arms at regional and subregional levels won the support of 180 countries.
The statement noted that a third resolution concerning the provision of security assurances to non-nuclear-weapon states had earlier been adopted by a majority of 122 votes, with no votes recorded against it.
The ministry affirmed that these resolutions address mechanisms for cooperation to reduce security risks and to enhance confidence and stability regionally and internationally, amid rising tensions and challenges facing arms limitation frameworks.
