MP questions reasons for low number of elderly in Hajj lottery results (document)
MP asks why so few elderly applicants appeared among the results of the recent Hajj lottery (document).

On Monday, MP Haider Mohammed Kazem al-Mutairi submitted a request to the Supreme Commission for Hajj and Umrah asking for an explanation of the reasons for the low numbers of elderly among the results of the Hajj lottery that was recently held for the supplementary 2027 and for 2028, 2029 and 2030.
The official document issued by al-Mutairi’s office, seen by Al-Wasat Iraqi newspaper, stated that the request was based on Article (61/ First/ A) of the Constitution, and Articles (15) and (27/ Second, Seventh) and (29) of the Iraqi Council of Representatives Law No. (13) of 2018.
Al-Mutairi asked the head of the Supreme Commission for Hajj and Umrah to state the reasons for "their low numbers" within the lottery results, noting the receipt of "many appeals" from elderly citizens, whom he specified in the document as "born in 1960 or earlier."
The electronic Hajj lottery results announced in Iraq yesterday, Sunday, have prompted questions on social media about the chances of elderly applicants being selected, as well as criticism of the phrase shown to applicants whose names were not chosen: "We're sorry... you were not fortunate enough to be selected."
