EIA: U.S. imports of Iraqi oil hit zero last week

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Sunday that U.S. imports of Iraqi crude oil stopped during the past week and registered "zero."

The data showed that the average U.S. crude imports during the past week from nine major countries amounted to 6.145 million barrels per day, an increase of 1.196 million barrels per day from the previous week's average of 4.949 million barrels per day.

According to the data, U.S. imports of Iraqi crude were zero barrels per day in the week in question, after averaging 51,000 barrels per day in the previous week.

The administration said the largest suppliers to the United States last week were Canada at 3.891 million barrels per day, followed by Venezuela at 624,000 barrels per day, then Nigeria at 376,000 barrels per day, and Guyana at 354,000 barrels per day.

It added that U.S. imports from Brazil averaged 301,000 barrels per day, from Saudi Arabia 228,000 barrels per day, from Mexico 186,000 barrels per day, from Argentina 112,000 barrels per day, and from Colombia 73,000 barrels per day.

The United States imports most of its crude oil and derivatives from these countries, and its daily oil consumption is estimated at about 20 million barrels, making it the world's largest oil consumer.
