Masoud Barzani’s Office Denies Link to ‘Miry 2026’, Says It Failed to Represent Parts of Kurdistan

Masoud Barzani’s office issued a statement on Tuesday expressing regret over the way the “Miry 2026” forum in Erbil was organized, and condemned the failure to respect political pluralism and the improper exclusion of political parties from other parts of Kurdistan.

The statement said the forum did not succeed this year in meeting the required standards of representation, specifically in the manner invitations were issued to guests and the organization of the dialogue sessions, which prevented broader participation by concerned parties from other parts of Kurdistan.

It added that such a gathering, given its importance, should have reflected representation of the Kurdish people’s issues in the other parts of Kurdistan with the participation of all relevant parties.

The office noted that this approach has sparked resentment among “the struggling and authentic” parties in other parts of Kurdistan, and warned that continuing in this way could deepen division and disunity among the people of Kurdistan.

The statement concluded by asserting that the “Miry” forum has no connection whatsoever to Barzani’s office.

The “Miry 2026” forum opened on Monday in the city of Erbil and runs for two days with the participation of a number of political figures and officials.
