Ministry of Education bans assigning students homework after official hours or during holidays

The Ministry of Education issued a directive prohibiting primary, intermediate and preparatory school administrations from assigning pupils and students schoolwork after the official working hours or during holidays.

A letter addressed to the General Directorate of Curricula dated the 22nd of this month stated that the ban includes assigning students tasks via social media and applies to all educational stages: primary, intermediate and preparatory.

The directive emphasized confining school assignments and activities to class time and the actual school day in order to preserve the students' psychological and physical well‑being and to allow sufficient time for rest and family interaction, while holding school administrations fully responsible for any violation of the instructions.

The General Directorate of Curricula asked the relevant directorates to circulate the directive to schools and to implement it.
