The Egyptian Interior Ministry announced today, Sunday, October 25, the deaths of four highly dangerous criminal elements during raids that targeted criminal hubs in the governorates of Sharqia, Dakahlia and Beheira, and the arrest of the remaining members of those hubs, who were in possession of large quantities of narcotics and unlicensed firearms.

Raids with participation of the Central Security Sector

In a statement, the ministry said information and investigations by the Public Security and the Anti-Narcotics and Unlicensed Weapons and Ammunition sectors, in coordination with the concerned bodies, revealed that these hubs were bringing in quantities of narcotics and firearms in preparation for trafficking. It explained that after completing the legal procedures, members were targeted with the participation of the Central Security Sector, which resulted in the deaths of four of them and the arrest of the others.

Previous convictions for weapons, drugs and robbery

According to the statement, the four killed had previously been accused and sentenced to prison in felony cases related to possession of firearms and ammunition, drug trafficking, discharging firearms, resisting authorities, thuggery and robbery with violence.

Seizures worth more than 170 million pounds

The ministry said nearly two tons of various narcotics were seized, along with more than 51,000 pills and 101 assorted firearms, estimating the financial value of the seized narcotics and pills at more than 170 million Egyptian pounds, and confirming that legal measures have been taken against the suspects. The operation is part of a series of campaigns carried out by Egyptian security agencies in recent months against drug and weapons smuggling networks in the Delta governorates, including a previous operation in Giza and Dakahlia that also resulted in the deaths of four suspects.
