Diplomatic source: missile launched by Ansar Allah struck King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday
A diplomatic source said Yemen's Ansar Allah (the Houthis) fired a missile that struck King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh around 3 p.m. on Saturday; a medical source confirmed five people are receiving intensive care treatment.

A diplomatic source said Yemen's Ansar Allah movement (the Houthis) launched a missile that struck King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Saturday afternoon. The source said: "The Houthis attack civilian targets. Riyadh airport is a civilian target," noting the incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Saturday.
A medical source at a Riyadh hospital said at least five people were receiving treatment in intensive care on Saturday after being injured at King Khalid International Airport. He added that "dozens of people, most of them Saudis, were injured... there are at least five of the injured, all Saudis, in intensive care," noting that some of the wounded were transported to the hospital by helicopter.
Three witnesses reported that evacuations took place at the airport during that time.
Meanwhile, Kuwait Airways announced it had canceled flights to and from the Saudi capital due to the airport's closure for security reasons, and Turkish Airlines canceled its flights to Riyadh following the attack on King Khalid International Airport. Lufthansa Group and Air India had announced last Thursday that they were suspending flights to Riyadh after renewed Houthi threats to airlines.
Western embassies in Saudi Arabia urged their nationals to stay away from Riyadh airport.
These developments came after rocket attacks attributed to the Houthis on Friday that targeted King Khalid International Airport in recent days, which, according to Saudi authorities, resulted in fatalities and other injuries, in addition to material damage to a Saudia aircraft and an impact on air traffic operations.
King Khalid International Airport stressed the importance of following flight updates through airlines and of checking the departure time and flight status before leaving home to avoid any potential delay or change to travel schedules.
