General Authority of Civil Aviation Announces Attack on King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, Several Injured

The General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia announced on Saturday evening that King Khalid International Airport in the capital Riyadh was subjected to an attack that same afternoon, resulting in a number of injuries that authorities are working to determine.

The authority added that operational activities at the airport have been temporarily suspended until the damage assessment is completed and the safety of the facilities is verified, in coordination with the relevant authorities, noting that updates will be announced later.

The airport had been repeatedly targeted by the Houthi group in recent days, which, according to Saudi authorities, resulted in deaths and injuries, as well as material damage to an aircraft belonging to Saudi Arabian Airlines and disruption to air traffic.

These attacks come at a time when several fronts in Yemen are witnessing a broad military escalation, coinciding with an offensive by government forces backed by Saudi Arabia to retake areas seized by the Houthis in recent weeks, particularly on the western coast and around the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
