Breaking | 3 fishermen injured by drone off Sirik in southern Iran
Hormozgan authorities say three fishermen were injured by an unidentified drone off Sirik on Wednesday; Iranian media linked the incident to the U.S. while there has been no official American comment.
Local authorities in Hormozgan province in southern Iran announced on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, that three fishermen were injured in an incident linked to an unidentified drone off the coast of the Sirik area. No fatalities had been recorded at the time this report was prepared.
Deputy Governor of Hormozgan for Political, Security and Social Affairs Ahmad Nafisi said the incident occurred Wednesday morning on a 'lunga' fishing boat operating within the Sirik fishing zone, and resulted in injuries to three of its occupants. Sirik district hospital was placed on alert and an ambulance was dispatched to the quay to transfer the injured.
Footage showed the injured being brought ashore to receive treatment, while Iranian media linked the incident to a U.S. attack, with no official comment from the U.S. so far.
The incident comes amid rising tension in the Strait of Hormuz and its surrounding waters, where attacks on commercial vessels in the vital waterway have continued.
