Kurdistan Region Presidency 'strongly' condemns attack on King Khalid Airport in Riyadh and declares solidarity with Saudi Arabia

The Presidency of the Kurdistan Region on Sunday "strongly" condemned the attack that targeted King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Saturday, which resulted in a number of civilian deaths and injuries.

In an official statement, the Presidency affirmed its "full" solidarity and support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing the need to protect civilian lives, halt escalation, and safeguard the security and stability of the region.

This came as Saudi authorities announced that the attack — the third in a few days on Riyadh's international airport — killed at least 12 people and wounded more than 300 others, amid an escalation by the Iran-aligned Yemeni Houthi movement in its attacks on the kingdom.

The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation said that among the dead were four Saudis, two Bangladeshis, and one person each from the United States, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Egypt. According to the latest tally announced by officials, 309 people were injured.
