Warning of Possible Threat Targeting U.S. Bases in Germany Including Ramstein and Spangdahlem

Citing Western intelligence officials, it was reported that Israel warned the United States and Germany of a potential threat targeting U.S. military bases in Germany, including Ramstein and Spangdahlem, amid concerns about covert attacks linked to the war on Iran.

The partners in the United States and Germany were informed of these warnings about three weeks ago, the officials said, adding that Iranian intelligence services are targeting bases that support U.S. military operations and the supply and logistics services associated with the war on Iran.

Concerns focused on the Ramstein and Spangdahlem bases, which are among the most important U.S. bases and air facilities in Germany.

No comment was immediately available from the German Defense Ministry or from U.S. forces in Germany regarding the reports.

The U.S. Air Force has been at Spangdahlem Air Base since the mid-1950s, while Ramstein Air Base is located near the city of Kaiserslautern in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate; together they are among the main U.S. bases and airfields in the country.

During his first term, President Donald Trump’s administration drew up plans to withdraw part of the U.S. force presence from Germany, but the U.S. government froze those plans in 2021 and did not implement them.

The warning comes amid ongoing tension and conflict between Iran and the United States, with fears that the confrontation could widen and that U.S. interests and bases outside the Middle East could be targeted.
