Iranian president: Qatar and Pakistan are mediating and conveying Iran's messages to Washington
The Iranian president says Qatar and Pakistan are mediating and conveying Iran's messages to Washington.

Iranian President Masoud Bezheshkian said that Qatar and Pakistan are currently mediating between Iran and the United States, and are working to convey Iranian messages and positions to the American side.
Bezheshkian said, in remarks carried by Al Jazeera on Saturday, that communication between Tehran and Washington is taking place indirectly through intermediaries, amid ongoing tensions and disagreements between the two countries.
This comes as diplomatic efforts continue to try to reduce escalation and open the door to new negotiations between Iran and the United States. Qatar and Pakistan had participated in previous mediation efforts between the two sides, while Islamabad affirms its continued readiness to contribute to supporting the diplomatic track.
Current talks focus on a number of files, including a ceasefire, the sanctions and pressures imposed on Iran, as well as the future of negotiations related to the nuclear file and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
In this context, Iran proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz to navigation for a period of up to seven days, provided conditions related to reducing military pressures and lifting the blockade on Iranian ports are met, according to statements by Iranian officials.
Tehran's reliance on Qatar and Pakistan reflects the continuation of indirect contacts with Washington, at a time when talks have not reached a final agreement, while the two mediator states continue trying to bring the sides' positions closer.
