Russian Foreign Ministry: Iraqi Army and Security Forces Capable of Ensuring National Security

The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed on Friday that the Iraqi army and security forces are capable of ensuring national security.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement seen by Al-Wasat Iraqi newspaper that "the Iraqi army and security forces are capable of enhancing defensive capabilities and ensuring national security."

It added: "We welcome the withdrawal of US forces and the international coalition forces from Iraq."

It affirmed: "We are confident in Iraq's ability to confront challenges and strengthen its security and stability following the end of the foreign military presence."
