Sulaimaniyah forest police arrest 4 suspects for cutting 186 natural trees
The Directorate of Forests and Environment Police in Sulaimaniyah arrested four people accused of cutting 186 natural trees in the Mirqban area.

The Directorate of Forests and Environment Police in Sulaimaniyah governorate announced on Tuesday the arrest of four people accused of cutting natural trees in the Mirqban area belonging to the governorate.
The spokesman for the Forests and Environment Police in Sulaimaniyah, Heyman Kamrkhan, said, "The four suspects cut 186 natural trees in the Mirqban area," noting that "the ages of the cut trees ranged between 15 and 20 years."
He added, "Penalties are determined by the judge according to the tree's age and type, as well as the tool used to cut it," pointing out that "penalties may range from a financial fine to imprisonment."
He explained that "Article (21) of the Forests and Rangelands Law in the Kurdistan Region provides for a fine ranging between 3 and 5 million dinars for the violation of cutting trees, with the possibility of imposing a prison sentence not exceeding one year in some cases."
