Trump: Something big could happen very soon regarding Iran

Amid rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran and mutual threats, U.S. President Donald Trump said that "something big could happen very soon regarding Iran."

Trump told Fox News on Sunday: "I am in the process of making a decision about Iran."

Three options

He said the options currently on the table for him are wiping out Iran, letting it rot economically, or reaching a deal and an agreement.

He also issued new warnings to Iranian authorities, hinting at "the possibility of blowing up all of Iran." He said, addressing Iranian officials: "They had better behave."

Despite this threat, Trump said he "would be open to the idea of meeting Iranian President Masoud Bezheshkian in New York" on the sidelines of the upcoming United Nations meetings next Tuesday.

Regarding the Houthis in Yemen, he noted that the U.S. administration is in continuous contact with the group and has agreed not to target U.S. interests and ships.

Those remarks came after Iranian forces warned of an "American plan" to resume the war and to launch attacks on Iranian territory. The Iranian Armed Forces' Joint Combatant Command said in a statement earlier today that "Tehran has received information indicating that the United States is preparing to resume combat operations."

They also came after it was reported that Trump cut short his vacation at Camp David on Saturday evening to return to Washington, amid media reports that the possibility of directing strikes against the Houthis was being considered.
