U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday renewed his pledge to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, saying the United States will not attack Iran before the congressional midterm elections scheduled for November 3.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday renewed his pledge to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
Trump said: 'Our naval forces are leading efforts to ensure that Iran does not possess a nuclear weapon, and that will never happen.'
He added that Iran is 'practically abandoning' any plans to obtain a nuclear weapon, reiterating that Tehran will never be allowed to possess one.
At the same time, Trump said the United States will not attack Iran before the congressional midterm elections scheduled for November 3, and that 'productive talks' are taking place between the two sides — comments that followed reports of U.S. preparations for potentially wide-ranging strikes.
