Trump Says War with Iran Will End Soon, Calls for Settlement in Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump said the war his country is waging with Iran "will end soon," expressing his expectation that gasoline prices will drop after the confrontations end.

Trump added that the U.S. midterm elections will not affect his decisions on dealing with Iran, noting in his remarks that he has been in contact with the Saudi crown prince about the matter, and describing the actions of the Houthi group as "very bad."

On the Ukraine war, Trump stressed the need to reach a settlement to end the fighting, noting that there have been ceasefire violations by both sides.

He said Russia and Ukraine want to reach an agreement but do not know how to achieve it, expressing his belief that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to make a deal and saying that Putin must convince Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to agree to it.

Trump urged Zelensky to focus on reaching an agreement to end the war instead of talking about what he described as the "diesel agreement" with Russia.
