Trump Attacks Nobel Committee: Decision Not to Award Him Peace Prize an 'Indelible Stain' on Norway
Donald Trump launched a sharp attack on the Nobel Committee after his nomination was excluded, claiming he deserved the prize for his role in settling eight conflicts and other achievements he outlined in a post on his platform Truth Social.

U.S. President Donald Trump launched a sharp attack on the Nobel Committee in protest at not being awarded the Peace Prize, saying the decision left "an indelible stain" on Norway.
In a lengthy post on his platform Truth Social, Trump said he deserved the prize because of what he described as his role in settling eight wars, adding that he deserved "eight Nobel Peace Prizes, not just one."
The president criticized South African judge Navi Pillay, who was awarded the prize, saying he knew nothing about her and describing her as a liberal U.N. figure; he also accused her of hating Israel without providing evidence in his post to support that allegation.
Trump listed the conflicts he said he helped resolve: between Cambodia and Thailand; Kosovo and Serbia; the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda; Pakistan and India; Israel and Iran; Egypt and Ethiopia; Armenia and Azerbaijan; and the war between Israel and Hamas.
He said presidents and prime ministers of the countries involved sent letters to the Nobel Committee supporting his nomination, arguing that his role in the Pakistan-India dispute alone warranted the prize. He added that he was close to resolving the Iran file and the Russia-Ukraine war, or achieving victory in them, in his words, and insisted developments were moving very fast.
Trump cited Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, whom he said awarded him her prize last year, attributing to her a comment that he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize more than anyone who had previously received it.
The president outlined other achievements he attributed to his administration, including preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, recovering all hostages from Israel — including the last 28 hostages, alive and dead — and toppling Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela.
He also said he prevented wars on the Korean Peninsula and between China and Taiwan, and pushed NATO countries to raise spending from 2% to 5% of GDP. He added that he secured the release of more than 900 political prisoners from several Eastern European countries, and 196 hostages from around the world, without paying ransoms, according to his account.
Trump accused the United Nations of not providing assistance in the conflicts he said he settled, and closed his post by saying the Nobel Committee had done lasting damage to the prize's credibility, calling its members "extremist ideologues" and anti-democratic.
