Turkish Defense Announces Gradual Handover of Bashiqa-Zlikan Base to Iraqi Government

The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday that the decision to hand over the Bashiqa-Zlikan base to the Iraqi government will be carried out gradually.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense said in a statement, seen by Al-Wasat Iraqi newspaper: "The decision to hand over the Bashiqa-Zlikan base to the Iraqi government will be implemented gradually, according to the agreed mechanism."

It added that "the handover of the base comes in light of the progress made by the Iraqi government in implementing security measures in Sinjar."
