Al-Zaidi Calls to Keep Intelligence Service Free from Partisan, Factional and Sectarian Allocation
Commander-in-Chief and Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi called for the Iraqi National Intelligence Service to be kept free from partisan, factional and sectarian allocation during a visit to the agency, pledging full support and to meet its needs, the PM's media office said.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi said the Iraqi National Intelligence Service should be kept away from partisan, factional and sectarian quota-based allocation, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s media office, during a visit he made on Thursday to the agency’s headquarters.
Al-Zaidi held a meeting with the agency’s leaders and officers, during which he praised what he described as "the sacrifices and the great tasks the agency has carried out over the past years," the statement said.
Al-Zaidi affirmed his full support for the agency, its leadership and its ranks, stressing the need to provide all of its requirements and to work on qualifying and advancing it using the latest scientific and technical methods.
He also stressed the importance of exerting maximum efforts to defend the homeland and protect its security and stability, given the region’s crises and wars that necessitate doubling security work across various fields, the statement added.
The statement noted that the Prime Minister issued last Monday an order terminating Hamid al-Shatri’s assignment as head of the Intelligence Service. Al-Shatri had been assigned to the post in December 2024 during the government of former Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani.
