Saudi-led coalition says it shot down hostile drone over Riyadh
The Saudi-led coalition said defenses intercepted and destroyed a drone described as 'hostile' over the Riyadh region, after a day that saw the downing of a drone and a ballistic missile launched toward the kingdom.

The spokesman for the Arab Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, Turki al-Maliki, announced that Saudi defenses intercepted and destroyed a drone he described as 'hostile' today, Saturday, over the Riyadh region.
Al-Maliki added that this announcement came after he had announced on Friday the interception and destruction of a drone launched toward the same area, and the downing of a ballistic missile launched toward the southern region of the kingdom.
Earlier in the day the Saudi civil defense sounded a warning alarm of a potential threat in Khamis Mushait and the Jazan area, before later announcing that the threat had passed in both areas.
These developments come amid escalating cross-border attacks between the Saudi-led coalition, which supports the internationally recognized Yemeni government, and the Houthi group that controls the capital, Sanaa.
The Eastern Province, which contains the majority of the kingdom's oil and gas reserves, has experienced repeated attacks in recent weeks. The main headquarters of Saudi Aramco was also damaged in an attack earlier in October.
