France closes Paris museums including the Louvre ahead of October 24 protests
France's culture ministry announced the closure of several Paris museums, including the Louvre, on Saturday 24 October over fears of looting during protests, while partial curfews have been imposed after a wave of violence.

France's Ministry of Culture announced on Thursday that it will close a number of Paris museums next Saturday, October 24, including the Louvre, as a precaution against possible looting during a new round of protests.
The ministry said the Musée d'Orsay, which houses 19th-century works including those by the Impressionists, and the Picasso Museum are among the other museums affected by the closure order.
French authorities imposed a partial curfew in Paris and other cities last Tuesday, after weekend demonstrations against rising prices turned into some of the worst street violence in recent years.
Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu did not rule out imposing a state of emergency, after the interior minister said the police had "lost control."
