Jordanian Public Security Directorate announces arrest of three after siege of church attack suspects in Hamoud
The Jordanian Public Security Directorate said special raid teams located three suspects in an attack on a church in the village of Hamoud, besieged them in an abandoned house where they fired on security forces, were wounded and arrested, and weapons were seized with no security injuries reported.
The Jordanian Public Security Directorate announced at dawn on Monday that special raid teams and security agencies had succeeded, after continuous efforts in search and sweeping operations, in locating three terrorists accused of carrying out “the cowardly terrorist operation” that targeted Jordanian citizens inside a church in the village of Hamoud in Karak governorate.
The directorate said in a statement that the suspects entrenched themselves inside an abandoned house and refused to surrender, then opened fire toward the security force. According to the statement, the teams applied rules of engagement until they were able to secure the site and arrest them after all were wounded, with no injuries reported among the security force.
The directorate clarified that the three individuals were found to be in possession of a number of firearms and ammunition during the arrest operation.
