JD Vance: Moscow and Kyiv Agreed to Resume Talks but Disagreements Remain an Obstacle

U.S. Vice President JD Vance announced on Thursday in Ohio that Moscow and Kyiv had agreed to return to the negotiating table as part of efforts to find a solution to the conflict between the two countries.

Vance told reporters that Washington sees the two sides as having reached an understanding to resume talks, a move he described as part of broader diplomatic efforts to ease tensions and find a political way out.

He explained that the failure to reach a peace agreement so far is due to the continuing wide divergence in the positions of the two sides on a number of key issues on the negotiating table, which makes achieving tangible progress difficult.

Diplomatic efforts continue aimed at resuming talks and shaping a ceasefire, but disagreements over the terms of a settlement remain an obstacle to making clear progress toward ending the conflict.
