Kuwaiti foreign minister discusses de‑escalation with Faisal bin Farhan in Riyadh, affirms solidarity with the Kingdom

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al‑Ahmad Al‑Sabah met with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, in Riyadh today, Wednesday, October 28, 2026, to discuss efforts to de‑escalate the situation in the region and bilateral relations, during an official visit to the Kingdom that comes amid a military escalation in the region and intensified Saudi diplomatic moves to contain it.

Talks with Faisal bin Farhan and Kuwaiti solidarity with the Kingdom

Prince Faisal bin Farhan received his Kuwaiti counterpart in Riyadh, where the two sides reviewed the fraternal relations between the countries and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields. They also discussed regional developments and efforts to de‑escalate and contain tensions in a way that contributes to restoring security and stability.

The two ministers addressed the attacks carried out by the Houthis against the Kingdom, affirming the countries' solidarity in confronting anything that would undermine their security and stability.

During the meeting, Sheikh Jarrah Al‑Sabah, according to a statement from the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry, renewed his country's condemnation of the attacks targeting several areas of the Kingdom and the attempts to target Mecca and Medina, saying they constitute a violation of the Kingdom's sovereignty and a breach of international law and international humanitarian law. He described them as a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security, the safety of civilians and air navigation, and that they require a firm international stance to ensure those responsible are held accountable.

The Kuwaiti minister affirmed his country's full solidarity with the Kingdom and its support for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty and protect its security and stability, stressing that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of the security of Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Both sides also stressed the importance of continuing consultations and coordination between the two countries and intensifying joint efforts to face current challenges.

As part of the visit, Sheikh Jarrah Al‑Sabah also met with Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and Minister of State and member of the Council of Ministers Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd. During both meetings the fraternal relations between the countries and ways to strengthen them across various fields were reviewed, and the Kuwaiti minister reiterated his country's solidarity with the Kingdom.

Official reception at King Khalid Airport

Upon his arrival at King Khalid International Airport, the Kuwaiti minister was received by Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al‑Khariji, who welcomed the guest at the start of his official visit.

Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al‑Ahmad Al‑Sabah had previously visited Riyadh on April 1 earlier this year, when he met Prince Faisal bin Farhan; at that time the two sides affirmed continuing coordination between the countries given the circumstances the region is passing through.

Saudi‑Egyptian consultations to prevent escalation

The visit coincides with calls by the Saudi foreign minister with his regional counterparts: Prince Faisal bin Farhan spoke by phone with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati to discuss regional developments and efforts to contain the current crisis and prevent an escalation whose likelihood has increased recently.

The two ministers agreed, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, to continue close consultation and coordination bilaterally and within the framework of the four‑party ministerial mechanism that includes Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey and Pakistan, and to push for political and peaceful solutions through dialogue.

Ongoing attacks and support for mediations

These moves come as Saudi air defenses continue to intercept ballistic missiles and drones launched by the Houthis toward Saudi cities; the latest was a ballistic missile that the coalition announced it intercepted and destroyed on Tuesday night that was heading toward Taif.

In its session yesterday, Tuesday, the Saudi Cabinet affirmed its support for mediation efforts being made by Qatar and Pakistan to de‑escalate and for all initiatives aimed at achieving peace in the region.
