Netanyahu Accuses Iran’s Leader of Seeking Nuclear Weapon and Calls to Topple Regime
Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday evening that Iran’s supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei is following in his father’s footsteps by attempting to acquire a nuclear weapon, and said toppling the regime is the only way to remove the threat, while reports warn Tehran is speeding up bomb production.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday evening that Iran’s supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei had decided to “follow in his father’s footsteps” by attempting to acquire a nuclear weapon, and added that removing the Iranian nuclear threat can only be achieved by “toppling the regime.”
Netanyahu had said in remarks earlier on Tuesday that Iran will not obtain a nuclear weapon as long as he serves as prime minister, reiterating his position on preventing Tehran from becoming nuclear-armed.
Separately, an Israeli official, according to press reports, said that Tehran is seeking to speed up the manufacture of a nuclear bomb and is working to complete the weaponsization component that has so far hindered the progress of its program.
These comments come amid rising fears of a possible renewed military confrontation between Washington and Tehran, at a time when diplomatic efforts to resume negotiations are faltering and disagreements continue over Iran’s nuclear program and the terms for ending the war.
