Obama: War with Iran has drained U.S. missile stockpiles and raised energy costs

Former U.S. President Barack Obama said the war with Iran has depleted U.S. missile reserves, and that this was accompanied by attacks on American bases and allies, resulting in American deaths and hundreds of injuries.

Obama said the conflict has continued for seven months despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s declaration of victory, noting that the facts on the ground did not align with that announcement.

He added that Iran has, in his words, a bargaining chip in the Strait of Hormuz, through which oil supplies pass to global markets, giving Tehran leverage over supplies.

He explained that developments related to the strait have contributed to higher oil and diesel prices, and that the ripple effect on most goods has led to increased energy costs and prices in general.
