Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Tuesday expressed optimism that progress made in the Tehran talks could contribute to stopping the war and lowering the level of regional escalation.

Asif said the talks, which involved Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Iran, have made progress that could help achieve a de-escalation, expressing his belief that the diplomatic efforts led by his country are beginning to bear fruit.

He added that the joint moves could create more peaceful conditions, explicitly noting that they include addressing aspects of the tension with the United States.

He also pointed out that the participation of senior Saudi and Turkish officials reflects the importance of the regional initiative, affirming that further clarity on the talks' outcomes will come through statements from the participating countries.
