Trump denies any talks with Iran and Revolutionary Guard warns after incidents near Strait of Hormuz
President Donald Trump said there are no negotiations with Iran and predicted "something" will happen soon, while the Revolutionary Guard reported ships burning after hitting mines and warned the confrontation could widen in the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday there are no ongoing negotiations with Iran, and added that "something will happen one way or another soon," expressing his belief that most people expect the United States may take some action after elections in Iran and that the coming days will reveal what will happen.
In contrast, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard warned that the continuation of the approach taken by the U.S. military in the Strait of Hormuz could lead to the confrontation extending to include its bases in the region.
The Revolutionary Guard's naval forces announced that three ships, which the Guard described as "unauthorized," caught fire after colliding with a naval mine west of the Strait of Hormuz last night, and also said that four ships that were transferring oil ship-to-ship in the northern part of the Gulf were hit after being detected.
The Revolutionary Guard renewed its warning that Washington's insistence on urging ships to transit a passage the Guard considers mined will lead to an increase in incidents, warning that the scope of the confrontation could widen if the U.S. approach in the region continues.
