Trump says historic White House pool will not be restored
President Donald Trump said in a post on his platform on Saturday that the old pool beneath the press briefing room will never return, after reports said he had considered restoring it.
U.S. President Donald Trump ruled out rebuilding the historic pool that was once in the White House courtyard, saying in a post on his platform on Saturday that the pool 'will never return.'
The New York Times recently reported that Trump (80) had discussed the possibility of restoring the pool, at a time when a ban on the presence of all journalists inside White House facilities has been applied, the paper said.
The German news agency reported that the press briefing room has international renown for its conferences, and that the same space once housed an indoor pool before being converted into a press room decades ago.
At the end of September Trump posted a composite image combining the current press briefing room and the old pool, and in his new post he suggested the possibility of moving journalists to another location and criticized coverage he dislikes, using the phrase 'fake news.'
He wrote verbatim in his post: 'There is a report from the fake news that claims I will remove the White House press room and restore the old pool directly beneath it. And although I may move the media that promote fake news to a less disruptive location, the old pool will never return.'
