Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi met in Amman on Monday evening with Iraqi investors to discuss simplifying procedures, customs exemptions, and plans to lay a foundation stone and open the Al-Faw port early next year.

Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi met on Monday evening in the Jordanian capital Amman with a group of Iraqi businessmen and investors from various economic and commercial sectors to discuss investment opportunities available in Iraq.
According to a statement, al-Zaidi reviewed a number of policies and measures the Iraqi government has taken aimed at enhancing the investment climate and attracting capital to contribute to national development.
Al-Zaidi said Iraq has made significant progress in creating opportunities to attract more Arab and foreign investment by simplifying procedures, addressing investors' problems and protecting their rights in accordance with the Investment Law.
He pointed out that the country has many investment opportunities, and that the government has granted the private sector several concessions, including customs exemptions to support the implementation of development projects and provide job opportunities for young people.
He added that early next year will see the laying of the foundation stone for the extension of the "Road to Development," which includes the creation of industrial cities, alongside the opening of the large Al-Faw port at full capacity for commercial transport, aiming to make Iraq a connection point between East and West and one of the region's main global trade corridors.
He concluded by saying the government is keen to strengthen investment prospects and provide opportunities across all fields.
