Israeli reports: Edi Cohen's X account restricted in Saudi Arabia at authorities' request
Israeli media reported that access to activist Edi Cohen's account on X was restricted inside Saudi Arabia at the authorities' request, while Cohen submitted an objection to the platform's legal department. The Egyptian Public Prosecution blocked his account in May 2026.

Israeli media reports said access to Israeli activist Edi Cohen's account on the X platform (formerly Twitter) has been restricted inside Saudi Arabia, reportedly in response to a request from Saudi authorities.
The reports said Saudi authorities may have linked their decision to Cohen's posts and reports about missile and drone attacks launched by the Houthis against the kingdom, describing those posts as violating local laws — according to the reports.
According to reports, Cohen sent an objection to X's legal team expressing his displeasure at his account being restricted in Saudi Arabia without prior notice, saying the platform's handling of the Saudi and Egyptian requests raises questions about the criteria it uses in blocking decisions.
Cohen added that some of the removed posts dealt with Houthi attacks on Saudi targets, and that the audience inside the kingdom has an interest in that information. He said he believed the platform could have notified him of the posts in question and given him an opportunity to review them before restricting access to his account.
Relatedly, the Egyptian Public Prosecution decided in May 2026 to block Edi Cohen's accounts and those of a number of other figures on social media platforms inside the country. The prosecution said in its decision that these individuals were found to have used their accounts to publish content insulting state institutions, to broadcast inciting and hateful speech, to stir discord among segments of the population, and to spread false information, going beyond the limits of permissible opinion and expression and constituting criminal offenses — according to the text of the prosecution's decision.
