IRGC says it shot down MQ-1 drone off Sirik coast east of Strait of Hormuz
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced it shot down an MQ-1 drone east of the Strait of Hormuz near Sirik, while officials spoke of preparations for heavy strikes.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Thursday that it shot down an MQ-1 drone east of the Strait of Hormuz off the city of Sirik in the south of the country, according to a statement issued by the corps.
The statement placed the incident east of the strait near Sirik's shores, without providing additional details about the circumstances or any losses resulting from the incident.
According to informed sources, U.S. and Israeli officials on Wednesday spoke of preparations to carry out an attack on Iran that could include a week of intense strikes, media reports said.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) also said on Wednesday that transit lanes through the Strait of Hormuz were clear of mines, denying Iranian reports that commercial vessels had struck naval mines while transiting the strait.
