British authorities said the storm named "Boelo" swept across northern United Kingdom on Sunday, causing the cancellation of a number of flights and cutting power to tens of thousands of homes.

The Energy Networks Association, a body representing the energy sector in Britain, said that more than 82,000 properties remained without power as of 8:00 a.m. GMT, according to Agence France-Presse.

The association added that it had restored power to around 350,000 customers since Storm "Austin" hit the country a few days earlier, indicating ongoing efforts to recover from repeated outages.

The storm's impact included road closures and disruptions to rail lines due to fallen trees and severed cables, particularly in Scottish areas where a wind warning was issued. Authorities also suspended navigation on some routes, canceled departing flights from Belfast in Northern Ireland, and a ferry crossing of the Irish Sea between Belfast and northwest England was also canceled.

The UK Met Office said wind speeds peaked at 84 miles per hour (135 kilometers per hour) in the Argyll and Bute area of western Scotland, while a yellow rain warning was in place covering Scotland and northern England, with up to 80 millimeters of rain expected in some areas, increasing the risk of flooding.

The Met Office warned that the storm could pose a danger to life due to flying debris and heavy waves, urging residents to stay at home where possible and follow local safety instructions.
